Last Revised: August 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Marine Weather Tracker ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile application ("App") and any related services (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
a) Location Data
The App requests access to your device's location (precise and/or approximate) in order to show you nearby marine weather stations, tide, wind, wave, and swell data relevant to your surroundings, and to power the interactive map features. You can enable or disable location access at any time through your device settings. If you disable location access, certain features of the App (such as nearest-station results) may not function properly.
b) Device and Usage Data
We automatically collect certain information when you use the App, including device type, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, app version, language and region settings, crash logs, and general usage data (such as which screens and features you interact with and how often).
c) Purchase and Subscription Data
The App offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions ("Premium" features). Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, not by us directly. We may receive limited transaction information (such as subscription status, purchase date, and renewal status) from Apple or Google to manage access to Premium features. We do not receive or store your full payment card details, which are handled entirely by Apple or Google in accordance with their own privacy policies.
d) Push Notification Data
If you enable push notifications, we collect a device token used to deliver weather alerts, station updates, and other relevant notifications to your device. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
e) Information from Third-Party Analytics and Advertising Partners
We use third-party analytics and/or advertising SDKs to help us understand how the App is used and to improve our Services. These partners may collect information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID), IP address, general location (derived from IP), and in-app behavior. This data may be used to measure app performance and, where applicable, to personalize advertising. You may be able to limit this collection through your device's privacy settings (such as "Limit Ad Tracking" or "App Tracking Transparency" permissions on iOS).
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and maintain the App's core features, including real-time and forecast marine weather data, nearby station results, and interactive maps; process and manage Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases; send push notifications you have opted into; diagnose technical issues, fix bugs, and improve app performance and stability; analyze usage trends to improve features and user experience; and comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Depending on your jurisdiction, the sharing of device or advertising identifiers with analytics or advertising partners described in Section 1(e) may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of information under certain privacy laws (such as the CCPA); see Section 6 for your rights and choices regarding this.
How Information Is Shared
We may share information with: weather and marine data providers, to retrieve and display forecast information (this typically involves sharing only your approximate or precise location, not your identity); analytics and advertising partners, as described in Section 1(e); Apple and Google, in connection with app distribution, in-app purchases, and subscription management; service providers who help us operate the App (such as cloud hosting and crash reporting providers), under confidentiality obligations; legal and regulatory authorities, where required by law, to protect our rights, or to investigate fraud or security issues; and a successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes without your consent.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Device and usage data associated with analytics may be retained by our third-party partners in accordance with their own retention policies.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below so we can take appropriate action, including deletion of that information.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your information:
Access and Portability request a copy of the information we hold about you.
Correction request correction of inaccurate information.
Deletion request deletion of your information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Opt-Out of Tracking limit the use of advertising identifiers through your device settings, or opt out of certain analytics/advertising data sharing by contacting us.
Do Not Sell or Share My Information (California residents) California residents may have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA. You may exercise this right by contacting us at the email below.
Withdraw Consent where processing is based on consent (such as location or notifications), you may withdraw consent at any time via your device settings.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@marineweathertracker.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Location Services Control
You control location permissions through your device's operating system settings at any time. Disabling location access will limit certain features (such as nearby station data) but will not prevent you from using the general forecast and map features of the App where location is manually entered or defaulted.
Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
Third-Party Links and Services
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as weather data source attributions). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Revised" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated. Material changes will be communicated through the App or other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
